Job Summary

Job Summary

The preschool Inclusion Assistant reports directly to the Principal or designee to assist students who are being trialed in a setting other than their assigned classroom. These are students currently attending a special day class and are spending a portion of their school day in a less restrictive classroom setting for purposes of determining the least restrictive environment (LRE). This may include the general education preschool classroom. The Inclusion Assistant will provide instructional support to the student in the trial classroom setting to include the implementation of accommodations and/or modifications. They will collect data, share the data with the classroom teacher, and collaborate with other staff and service providers. The Inclusion Assistant will also be subjected to the essential duties and responsibilities of the Special Education Paraeducator 2.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements by having an Associate of Arts (AA) degree or higher or 48 semester units or by taking a local or state NCLB examination. Valid CPR and First aid certification is an ongoing requirement of the job. Desirable: Technical or college level coursework or training on Special Education. EXPERIENCE: Required: Equivalent of one school year of experience working with Special Education Students in an academic, social, emotional or functional instructional environment.

The testing results will determine the rank of the candidates from which an eligibility list is prepared.
