Grow Academy is a “no excuse” school with high expectations for success among students, teachers and parents. Our mission is to close the achievement gap, graduating our students at or above grade level in Literacy and Math. As such, we are looking for teachers (K-8) who can support us in achieving that goal on an occasional or ongoing basis. Substitute teachers will provide an effective classroom environment, teach, and implement lessons in the absence of teachers at Grimmway Academy. They will be expected to follow lesson plans and work collaboratively with other teachers, the Learning Lab staff, and Edible Schoolyard staff. Grow has two school sites that are located in Arvin and Shafter. Teacher Responsibilities will include: • Providing an effective classroom environment that reflects and facilitates the Academic program. • Implementing lesson plans that lead to student understanding based on state standards. • A full day of teaching, primarily within the subject area to which they are assigned. • Working collaboratively with the Principal, GA teachers and Learning Lab and Edible Schoolyard Instructors. Requirements: • A CA Teaching credential or substitute teaching permit. • Demonstrated mastery of classroom skills including classroom management, planning, 2 Assessment and instructional practice. • Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools.
