Shandon High School Agriculture Teacher Starting Aug 2025, for the 2025-2026 School Year. Shandon High School is looking for an Agriculture Mechanics Teacher in a 3 person decorated, and well respected agriculture department. Shandon High is a small rural school located in the South Coast region, approximately 15 miles east of Paso Robles and 40 minutes from San Luis Obispo and the beach. Our high school is projected to have roughly 85 students with small class sizes; generally 15-20 students. These class sizes allow for amazing connections with students and our students are eager to learn, build, and have a high interest level in the Agriculture pathways. Classes taught will include Introduction to Agriculture Mechanics, Beginning Welding, Advanced Welding and Fabrication, Agriculture Construction, and Farm Management. We have a well appointed shop facility, which consists of dedicated welding and woodworking areas. The instructor will be expected to work with FFA students on the district’s 10 acre school farm as well as provide project supervision. The campus farm has beef, sheep, goat, hog and poultry facilities, as well as a newly updated greenhouse, shade house and propagation house. In addition, the instructor will be involved in FFA student leadership development and LDE/CDE coaching. SJUSD students compete in several FFA competitions throughout the school year, and are well represented every year at the County Fair. The instructor will be expected to supervise the students in these competitions and/or FFA activities, as divided among the department staff. This position serves a smaller district in eastern San Luis Obispo County (district enrollment approximately 300). The classrooms have a promethean board for instruction and student engagement, chromebooks and other instructional technology.
Shandon is a rural community just east of Paso Robles. The Paso Robles area features a vibrant wine industry, nearby beaches (30 minutes away) cattle ranching, live music, parks, and family and outdoor activities, including hiking, horseback riding and other outdoor pursuits.
