This position provides a quality educational program to students in a safe school environment. The successful applicant will use positive classroom management skills and be able to effectively work as part of a team with administration, parents, and staff members. Signing Bonus $20,000.00 paid over 2 years (must hold a valid education specialist teaching credential) Salary Range $53,052.00-$72,104.00 Benefit Package $10,400.00 Masters and/or Special Credential Stipend - $2,000.00 Combo Class Stipend - $1,500 Caseload Stipend-$6,000 ($70.00 a unit over 90 units up until 125 units) Bachelors or higher degree Valid California Education Multiple Subject Credential Valid Education Specialist Credential, or enrolled/eligible for enrollment in a special education program leading toward a teaching certificate in Special Education. Job Description:

Under direct supervision of the school Principal, will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate school program meeting the unique needs of Special Education students.

Essential Job Tasks:

  1. Provide specialized instruction to students to meet the goals and objectives as developed in the IEP.
  2. Assess individual students to determine present levels of performance.
  3. Participate as a member of the IEP team.
  4. Implement the IEP with appropriate lesson plans, materials and classroom strategies and prepare Individualized Education programs.
  5. Use effective behavior management techniques to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  6. Prepare schedules and timelines to implement classroom activities.
  7. Observe and make ongoing evaluation of student’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports and communicate with parents on the individual student’s progress.
  8. Cooperate with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  9. Mainstream children into integrated settings for maximum interaction with peers.
  10. Create a functional and attractive environment for learning through room displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
  11. Plan and coordinate the work of instructional aides.
  12. Work with other age appropriate professionals and teachers to develop individual behavioral programs.
  13. Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice educational activities, provided by the county office and self-selected professional growth activities.

Knowledge Of:

  1. Age appropriate developmental levels;
  2. Curriculum and lesson plan development to meet IEP goals;
  3. Assistive technology.

Skills and Abilities To:

  1. Communicate orally and in writing with staff, parents and community.
  2. Instruct special education instructional aide in teaching techniques to achieve IEP goals;
  3. Understand and relate to children with special needs;
  4. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
  5. Maintain records, compile and verify data and prepare reports;
  6. Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions;
  7. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
  8. Work independently with little direction;
  9. Meet schedules and timelines;
  10. Work with teachers/aides to develop individual behavior programs;
  11. Work cooperatively with support services including instructional aide, physical and occupational therapist, speech therapist, adaptive physical education specialist, psychologist and school nurse.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors or higher degree
  2. Valid California Education Multiple Subject Credential
  3. Valid Education Specialist Credential, or enrolled/eligible for enrollment in a special education program leading toward a teaching certificate in Special Education.
  4. EL authorization (BCLAD/CLAD) is required or eligibility for proper authorization from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
