Job Summary

Job Summary

Under direction of the Director of Instruction & Professional Learning, the Literacy Specialist will provide support to ESL literacy-level students, classrooms, and teachers. This individual is responsible for coaching instructional staff on best practices for literacy instruction and supporting literacy-level students. This position shall assist leadership with administrative duties involving curriculum development and professional development as assigned (Please read the job description before applying for this position.)

Requirements / Qualifications

. Must hold a valid California teaching credential . Five years of work with literacy-level students preferred . Experience as a reading specialist, intervention teacher, instructional coach, or similar title preferred . Master’s degree in TESOL preferred

. Three years of successful, full-time teaching of literacy-level students in public or private school required . Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement programmatic changes, based on data and in consultation with stakeholders . Ability to communicate with and lead a diverse community . Possession of a valid California drivers’ license
