Job Summary
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Community School Project Director works collaboratively with the community school coordinators, liaisons, school leadership teams, teachers, families, and community members to improve children’s academic achievement, strengthen family functioning, increase family involvement in their children’s education and communities, and make the school an inclusive and welcoming place. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of a community school strategy and for building and maintaining relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students as the “community organizer” of the school and community. The Community School Director will create, strengthen, and maintain the bridge between the school and community, facilitate and provide leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for children, families and community members within the school districts.
Requirements / Qualifications
Please Note: This is a Temporary, Grant Funded Position - Contingent on Funding position. This is a shared position between the Terra Bella Union Elementary School, Strathmore Union Elementary School, Ducor School District, and Alpaugh Unified School Districts. Credential: Basic California teaching credential, including authorization to provide specialized instructional services to English Learners; Administrative credential highly recommended. Education: Bachelors’ degree, including all courses needed to meet all credentialing and certification requirements. Master's degree is preferred. Certification: Possession of a valid First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate required based on job duties. Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Experience: Demonstrated successful teaching experience with evidence of expertise in bilingual and LEP education and the integration of curriculum. Working knowledge of technology including computer hardware and software systems used in educational and office settings. Training: Ongoing training (e.g. Mandated Reporter, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, suicide prevention, etc.) as required by federal or state law, board policy and/or as directed by the Superintendent. Acquire and annually maintain Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) training certification. Communication: Ability to read and write in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Three (3) current letters of recommendation: Better than average recommendations from professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment and work habits of the individual.
