Job Summary

California Private Teachers is seeking a part-time private teacher for a family living in Point Loma, CA. The family has a child who is 7 years old and will be entering 3rd grade in the fall. The family hopes their child will continue to make progress at their own pace with the support and encouragement of a private teacher. This is a unique opportunity in which the private teacher will need to be resourceful and willing to work on a team to support the child's academics and developmental needs while integrating therapies in the home and learning space. Instructional hours will take place at the family’s home 3 days per week for 5 hours daily (total of 15 hours weekly). The private teacher will be responsible for developing the curriculum, lesson planning, providing enrichment opportunities, and interventions when applicable. The private teacher must possess the necessary knowledge and pedagogy to teach this grade level effectively while also creating a learning experience that is tailored to the child’s unique learning style and developmental needs. While working in collaboration with the parents and California Private Teachers, the private teacher must be able to foster an individualized, enlivening, and holistic educational experience.

• Develop and implement personalized curriculum aligned with grade-level standards and the student's individual learning needs. • Create engaging and interactive lessons across various subjects, encouraging a love and curiosity for learning. • Utilize diverse teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly. • Maintain open communication with parents to provide updates on the student's academic and social-emotional development. • Facilitate and organize co-curricular activities that support and enhance overall student learning and socialization. Credential Requirements: • A valid teaching credential is required. Please indicate the expected issuance date of your credential if it has not yet been posted with the credentialing commission. Applicants who hold an out-of-state teaching credential/certificate will be considered for this position. • Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred) • Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary or special education • Applicants must currently reside or be willing to relocate/commute to the Point Loma area to provide in-person instruction 3 days per week for 5 hours daily • Applicants must have experience working with neurodivergent learners Required Documents: • Resume • Copy of Credentials • Copy of Transcripts • Letter of Introduction (Cover Letter) • Letter(s) of Recommendation • Contact Information for Three (3) Professional References
