Job Summary
The Library Media Specialist (LMS) works with faculty, students, and parents to create an inviting, dynamic, inspiring, student-centered hub for lifelong learning. This position is an opportunity for a motivated self-starter with successful experience working collaboratively with all school constituents to create and nurture a love of reading, cultivate creativity, expand interdisciplinary collaborations, and instill a spirit of innovation. The Sonoma Country Day School Library requires a strong teacher-librarian-innovator who is able to build and execute TK-8th grade information and library literacy curriculum, promote digital literacy, curate a diverse collection of resources, and share children’s literature in a variety of formats. This candidate should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and knowledge of emerging trends in elementary and middle school information literacy curricula. We are seeking a professional who believes in empowering learners with diverse skills and literacies, collaborating with peers to promote innovative practices, and ensuring equitable learning opportunities for all students.
Requirements / Qualifications
Desired Qualifications: 3+ years of teaching experience with library administration, volunteer supervision, and budgeting in a school setting A B.A./B.S. degree with significant coursework in reading, writing, research methods, and library and information technology studies A Masters in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program is preferred A passion for working with children, books, and media Strong references that convey library media abilities as well as a connection with students
