Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses specialized materials, equipment and instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of blind or low-vision pupils
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: - Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university - California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service with programs for the visually impaired - Possess specialized techniques and skills pertinent to working with the visually impaired, such as braille reading and writing, training in use of various technological devices and optical aids - Background and/or certification in orientation and mobility - Knowledge of technology for Braille, large print and talking software

- Experience working with children with severe disabilities
- Teaching experience in general education programs, elementary or secondary
- Ability to use Sign Language
- Bilingual
