Seeking an enthusiastic educational leader to build active and positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community of Mtn. Empire Junior High School. MEJHS is a comprehensive rural junior high school with an enrollment of approximately 300 students from diverse communities. Responsible for the organization and administration of the school, direction of the instructional program, operation of the school plant, participation in staff and student activities; and exercising leadership in the community. Assumes primary responsibility for positive and effective relationships among staff, students, and parents. Specific functions include development of school philosophy; goals and objectives; supervision and support of student athletics and activities; sensitivity and responsiveness to individual problems and concerns (staff/student/parent); recognition of student and staff accomplishments. Plans and monitors school budget and single plan for student achievement. Establish and maintain relevant goals and objectives with annual evaluations; identification of instructional needs and deficiencies, with in-service training plans to meet needs; supervision of classroom instruction; evaluation and accountability of employees; and promotion of joint efforts to promote staff job satisfaction. Directs and maintains master schedule, cumulative records, and attendance reports. Establishes and maintains a safe and secure school environment. Establishes and maintains relationships with the district office, local colleges, community organizations, and other schools to coordinate educational services. Includes a $3,000 Doctoral Stipend

Under general direction of the Superintendent, is responsible to administer, coordinate and provide leadership to all programs, services and operations of a middle school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership for the establishment and maintenance of standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in learning activities;
Supervise and manage site operations to assure safety and efficiency;
Develop, organize, implement, and direct staff training programs;
Plan, direct and evaluate the instructional program in the school, including English Language Learner and intervention programs;
Plan, develop, implement, and conduct public and community relations programs;
Develop and implement plans for management of student discipline and conduct in a culturally diverse environment;
Confer and counsel with pupils, staff, and parents;
Assign, supervise and evaluate staff;
Prepare master schedules;
Prepare and manage school and categorical budgets;
Perform other related functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Knowledge of:
Principles, methods, strategies, goals, and objectives of a public middle School level educational program;
Philosophical, economic, and legal aspects of public education;
Procedures, methods, and techniques of organization, management, and supervision of middle school;
Curriculum, principles and procedures associated with curriculum development and implementation;
Program supervision, assessment and evaluation techniques;
Trends in middle school education programs;
Conflict resolution strategies and team building principles and procedures.
Ability to:
Manage, lead, and direct functions of a middle school facility;
Demonstrate effective instructional, organizational, and administrative leadership;
Communicate effectively in oral and written forms;
Make decisions in accordance with the laws, policies, regulations and procedures pertaining to school administration;
Establish and maintain effective organizational, community, and public relationships;
Motivate staff, work effectively with employees at all levels, and use good judgment;
Work effectively in a multi-ethnic community.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Must possess a valid California Administrative Credential;
Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
Three years or more of successful teaching experience;
Successful experience in staff development and restructuring.
Requirements / Qualifications
Master's Degree and California Administrative Services Credential, previous secondary school administrative experience is desired. Secondary teaching experience desirable.
