Job Summary

Job Summary

The Chief Business Officer (hereinafter, “CBO”) reports to, and works under the direction of, the Superintendent/Principal of the Cold Spring School District (hereinafter, “District”) and is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and managing the business, fiscal and operations of the Cold Spring School District. This includes all aspects of financial budgeting and financial reporting for the school district. The CBO is also designated as the Director of Food Services for the District and is responsible for the implementation, operations and reporting of the State’s Universal Meal Program. The CBO may also be assigned other duties as may be determined from time to time by the Superintendent/Principal of the District. The CBO may also be required to act on behalf of the Superintendent/Principal in his/her absence. The CBO is also required to work closely with the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO) to provide leadership, management skills and technical expertise to assume responsibility for business services and fiscal operations of the District, including budget, fiscal management, purchasing, payroll, health benefits, retirement, grant and construction accounting and risk management. The CBO provides human resources support to the development of and payroll calculations for employees and employment contracts. The CBO position is a twelve-month, 1.0 FTE position.

          Comments and Other Information

          A bachelor's degree in business administration or related field with an Accounting specialization and three years of progressively responsible experience in management of a California public school business operations on a scale equivalent to or greater than the combined size and scope of the Cold Spring School District. SBCEO financial software packages using the ESCAPE software training and/or experience are desirable. Additional formal training and/or education related to California public school business administration such as CASBO Certification, ACSA School Business Academy or similar training is desirable. A Juris Doctorate degree is also desirable but not required. A valid California driver's license.
