Job Summary

Job Summary

The Rural Teacher Residency Program-East Region is a partnership between Fresno County Superintendent of Schools (FCSS) and Fresno Pacific University. Residents complete their clinical practice in collaboration with a mentor teacher within one of the five rural districts in our consortium (Selma USD, Fowler USD, Caruthers USD, Laton USD, and Kings Canyon USD). Courses will be held at Fresno Pacific, in Selma and online. The one-year (three-semester) model provides an opportunity for the rural residents to earn a preliminary Multiple Subject Credential with the option of a Bilingual Authorization Certificate in Spanish or a Single Subject Credential. Residents participate in a place-based course model in tandem with clinical practice to be day-one ready to work in the classroom. The program's goal is to recruit, retain, and support a teacher workforce that reflects the community demographics in these respective geographic areas within Fresno County and support Residents by providing equity-driven coursework and professional development as well as exemplary school teachers and university mentors.
