POSITION TITLE: English Teacher SUPERVISED BY: Principal FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-Time EFFECTIVE DATE: August 2024 COMPENSATION: $69,626 - $109,376 per year Position Summary This is a 5/5th (100% FTE) position, teaching preparatory English at all grade levels (typically 3 sections of one course, and 2 sections of a second course.) Responsibilities and Duties Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian educator; Support SHC’s mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes; Develop students’ abilities to read broadly, deeply, and joyfully in fiction, non-fiction, and informational texts; Facilitate students’ critical literacy and engagement with diverse literary traditions and in various media, including the ability to learn effectively and ethically with generative AI. In collaboration with English Department colleagues, and per the department outcomes: Design, implement, and review standards-based lessons to facilitate critical thinking and mastery of essential skills and understandings; Plan, implement, and review what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed in a manner appropriate to the grade level; Provide regular and varied formative and summative assessments to facilitate our students’ ability to understand their progress toward learning targets, and to reliably document student progress; Maintain an interactive and timely learning environment, in both physical and virtual learning spaces (Schoology); Communicate consistently with students, parents, and school personnel; Keep current and complete electronic grading and attendance records; Collaborate in the school’s cocurricular activities, service learning, and retreat programs; Engage in professional development, especially our four-year New Faculty Professional Development and Support Program, becoming a reflective and growth-minded practitioner who integrates best and next teaching practices rooted i

Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree in English or related field; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to promote student learning. Desired Qualifications Graduate degree in English or related field; Single-subject teaching credential, or work toward it Experience in a Catholic high school setting; Experience as a classroom teacher; experience in an English classroom preferred.
