Job Summary

Pinewood School is seeking a full-time Junior High (Grades 7 & 8) Social Studies teacher for the 2024-25 school year. The individual in this role is a professional educator who is passionate about teaching and meeting the needs of Junior High students. Responsibilities - Teach 7th-Grade American History and 8th-Grade World History - Develop effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students - Design and implement curriculum for a student-centered classroom - Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected - Use technology effectively to communicate and to enhance teaching and learning experiences - Communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis regarding students’ needs and/or progress - Attend regular monthly faculty, grade level, and academic meetings - Participate in school events Physical Demands - Ability to spend long hours sitting, using computers and office equipment. - Ability to exchange/communicate information accurately and effectively with others in person and on the phone -Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Education, History or related field is required; Master’s degree and/or a teaching credential is desired - Minimum of three years of experience teaching a junior high school history class; experience teaching at an independent school is desired - Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills - Proficient in Google Workspace Compensation & Benefits Salary range is $81,390 - $144,300 annually and is based on education and years of teaching experience.
