          Position: High School Mandarin Teacher & International Student Coordinator Location: Pacific Bay Christian School, Pacifica CA (20-minute drive from San Francisco) About Us: At PacBay, We are dedicated to nurturing ambitious, joyful, and deeply engaged leaders who are prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. We are diverse - 63% students of color; 30% First-generation college-bound students Responsibilities: Mandarin Teaching (2/3 FTE) - Teach Mandarin language and culture with expertise and enthusiasm, fostering linguistic proficiency and cultural appreciation in students. - Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous Mandarin curriculum for high school students, incorporating authentic materials and real-life contexts. - Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to communicate confidently in Mandarin and explore the richness of Chinese culture. - Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Mandarin language and culture across the curriculum and promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities. - Model a balanced life of faith, wisdom, and service, inspiring students to approach language learning with curiosity, empathy, and resilience. International Student Coordinator (1/3 FTE) - Serve as the primary point of contact and support for international students and their families, guiding them through the orientation and adjustment to academic and cultural life at the school. - Develop and implement programs and services to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of international students, including language support, cultural enrichment activities, and transition workshops. - Collaborate with school administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure that the needs of international students are met and that they feel welcomed and included in the school community. - Facilitate cross-cultural understanding and appreciation among students, faculty, and staff through intercultural communication initiatives. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mandarin, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). - Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. - Valid teaching credential or certification preferred. - Experience teaching Mandarin language and culture at the middle and/or high school level. - Strong knowledge of Mandarin curriculum and instructional strategies. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and cross-cultural competency. - Thoughtful approach to how Christian faith engages with personal vocation and/ or intellectual life.
