Every CSSD student enjoys the benefits of a custom-built course plan, one-on-one attention from teachers, individualized college and career planning, and a flexible schedule that meets their academic and personal needs. Our teachers are committed to providing a personalized and rigorous academic experience for each student. The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is the nation’s highest Presidential honor for performance excellence through innovation, improvement and visionary leadership. CSSD was the first K-12 school to receive the award and the only educational institution to be presented with the award twice in its 33-year history. We are on a mission to transform the lives of students! The Charter School of San Diego (CSSD) is a free public school option, serving students in grades 6-12 who seek an alternative learning experience to the traditional school setting. The instructional design is based on a "University Model." Students work independently and attend labs, or tutorials 1-2 times/wk. Students come at scheduled times; no more than 20 students on site at a time. The learning environment, located in resource centers, is fully equipped with laptops, desktop computers, wireless networks, and high-speed T-1 Internet access in each resource center. Repeatedly recognized for its quality instructional program, high-caliber teaching and strong operational performance, CSSD seeks to redefine how teachers teach and students learn. Our standards and expectations are high as we prepare our students for the future. Together—teacher, parent, and student—we can guide our students to achieving great academic success and accomplishing the goals each has identified as their own. SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selected applicants will be interviewed by a panel of School Administrators and will complete work-styles/behavior survey. Candidates who successfully complete this phase of process will be interviewed by the Deputy Superintendent School Services and Superintendent School Services and Founder. Employees working an average of thirty (30) hours or more per week in a calendar month are eligible for coverage beginning the first day of the month following sixty (60) days of employment. The benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, chiropractic, life insurance, and a variety of employee paid voluntary benefits. CSSD’s benefits are 100% employer paid for the employee and all eligible dependents! Resume will not be accepted in lieu of application. We apply the same process for selecting staff. We may call any person listed as a reference and/or any former supervisors on your application. We do not invite all applicants to interview. We do not hire everyone who applies, and we do not discuss our hiring decisions with applicants.
