Job Summary
The Executive Director of Special Education Innovation is responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise in enhancing and aligning special education services across Alameda County, spanning from infants to transition-aged youth. Leveraging extensive knowledge in Special Education practices, laws, and resources, the Executive Director envisions and directs initiatives to identify and address service, opportunity, and knowledge gaps that impede the success of the most vulnerable youth and those who serve them. Key responsibilities of this role include assessing needs and devising county-wide solutions, identifying opportunities, and establishing systems and structures to address challenges across the areas of strategic planning, capacity-building, resource alignment, interagency collaboration, program and school design and implementation. Requirements / Qualifications
Education & Experience: Valid California Teaching Commission recognized credential (required) Valid Administrative Credential (required) Master’s degree in Education (required) Doctorate (preferred) Minimum ten (10) years educational experience at a county, SELPA, district office or similar organization leading effective special education programming Successful experience as a district special education director or school principal is strongly preferred.
