Job Summary
Harbor Day School is seeking qualified substitute teachers for grades K-8 in all subject matters, including art, music, technology and physical education. Substitute teachers are expected to actively engage with students in classroom activities, use effective classroom management strategies and implement lesson plans as needed. Depending on grade level, they will sometimes have sole responsibility for a classroom and sometimes they will share duties with another teacher. Substitute teachers will often need to supervise students during recess and lunch as well. At Harbor Day there are 413 students spread throughout 18 classrooms. Lower School – Grades K-4 – Two classrooms per grade level – average class size 22 Middle School – Grades 5-8 – Two classrooms per grade level – average class size 17 Preferred: • Teaching credential or coursework completed toward teaching credential Required: • Bachelor’s Degree • Classroom Teaching Experience (Coaching experience for PE) Pay Rate: • $175 daily rate (full day) • $125 daily rate (half day) Requirements for teaching: • TB Test/Clearance • Live Scan Fingerprinting Clearance Qualified Applicants: Please send your resume and cover letter to the attention of Mrs. Hilary Hickok at jobs@harborday.org
