Job Summary
Job Summary
Under the direction of an Administrator, Instructional Programs, the Job Placement Specialist applies technical training and job placement expertise to coordinate and assist students with special needs in locating employment and training opportunities that fit within their abilities. The Job Placement Specialist delivers workshops, establishes networks to generate potential employment sites, and collaborates with assigned district personnel to identify and serve students.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING: 1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years of job development, counseling, and educational service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Equivalent combination of education and experience 2. Any combination of equivalent to two years of college-level work in transition, psychology, counseling, special education, or related field and two years of experience is highly desired. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: A valid California Class C Driver’s License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The following physical and mental requirements described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of employees assigned to this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. The physical requirements for the position include the ability to do the following regularly for short or long periods of time: bend, drive or travel to a variety of sites within a reasonable time frame, grasp, hear, kneel, lift, and carry at least twenty-five pounds, lift from the ground, chest, shoulder or above, and waist, operate all required equipment, pull, push, reach above the shoulders, read electronic and written materials, see with visual acuity (including color, depth perception, and field of vision), ability to adjust focus, close vision, sit, squat, speak clearly in person and on the phone, stand, stoop, talk, transverse across uneven surfaces, twist at the neck and waist, and walk. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and/or other standard office equipment.
The mental requirements for this position include the ability to do the following regularly for short or long periods of time, accept criticism and feedback on performance, analyze and solve problems, collaborate and interact successfully with various groups of people encountered in the course of work; learn and apply new information or skills, make observations; perform highly detailed work, read and interpret information, use mathematical reasoning, use oral and written communication skills, work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions, and work under intensive deadlines and meet productivity requirements.
