Job Summary

Job Summary

The Program Director, Green Career Guidance Initiative (GCGI) will launch phase one of an ambitious effort to ensure high school graduates throughout Alameda County are poised to take advantage of the growing number of jobs associated with society’s green transition. There is already a deficit of skilled tradespeople as a result of decades of disinvestment in vocational education. And as we move away from fossil fuel extraction and consumption and build natural and technical solutions for drawing-down greenhouse gasses, there will be significant growth in jobs associated with energy efficiency, electrification of buildings and transportation systems, and nature based climate change mitigation and adaptation. The urgency of this need provides an important opportunity for ACOE to support local school districts to build their capacity to guide students into these careers.
