Grades 1st – 5th Classroom Teacher Ocean Charter School (OCS) is a dynamic, caring charter school community on the westside of Los Angeles about a mile from the Pacific Ocean that implements public Waldorf Education. We are accepting applications for elementary (1st - 5th grade) class teaching positions. We welcome applicants interested in engaging children’s imagination through the arts and appropriate academic rigor who are committed to the ongoing study of child development to apply. Ideal candidates have Waldorf teaching experience and a CA multiple subject credential, but candidates interested in learning more about public Waldorf Education and those not yet complete with their CA credential are also encouraged to apply. As part of our commitment to reflecting the diversity of our students in our teachers and to our overall equity goals, we welcome applicants who come from traditionally underrepresented groups to apply. OCS teachers practice looping, where they move with their class through the grades and remain teaching the same students for multiple years. OCS offers summer training to prepare teachers for the upcoming school year as well as additional professional development opportunities and mentoring in a supportive working environment. Ocean Charter School (OCS) uses a Waldorf Educational approach to teach common core standards in a public school setting. We are accepting applications for First through Eighth Grade teaching positions, and we welcome like-minded individuals interested in Waldorf Education to apply. OCS teachers practice looping, where they move with their class through the grades and remain teaching the same students for multiple years. We are particularly interested in candidates with the ability and flexibility to teach all grades, including the upper loop (6-8). OCS offers summer training to prepare teachers for the upcoming school year as well as additional professional development opportunities, mentoring, and a supportive working environment.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements • Current CA teaching credential appropriate for the position or verified enrollment in an intern credential program • Fulfillment of all health and safety trainings and clearances Professional Qualifications • Commitment to work in an innovative school environment • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and be responsive to students, colleagues, administration, and parents • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment, • Ability to work efficiently • Ability to exercise excellent judgment when making decisions • Flexibility and willingness to continue growing • Strong oral and written communication skills • Maintenance of professional standards of physical appearance, health, energy, maturity and emotional adjustment for a school environment and to be an example for students Preferred Qualifications • Waldorf certification and/or experience working in Waldorf schools
