Job Summary
Job Summary
THIS POSTING IS FOR CONSIDERATION AS ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST AT INSIGHT SCHOOLS OF CALIFORNIA. ABOUT INSIGHT SCHOOLS OF CALIFORNIA: Insight Schools of California (a network of three public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based-instruction to students in grades 9-12 in California. Insight Schools of California serves at-risk students. We use the K12, inc. curriculum as the basis for instruction, and teachers provide live online instruction via a web conferencing platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to maintain daily attendance, attend instructional sessions, and complete their coursework each day. When you join the team at ISCA, you join a team of dedicated professionals working all over the state in a virtual environment to ensure the success of our families and students. We are dedicated to our mission statement of helping students to become independent learners who are responsible, competent, collaborative, compassionate, and critical thinkers, with a strong sense of self and community. Our schools provide students with an excellent education, grounded in high academic standards, which will help them achieve their full academic and social potential. Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our teachers, therefore, need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach. Our English Language Development Specialists are responsible for ensuring that students achieve mastery of learning objectives. They provide guidance, instruction, and support, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs.
