Anna Yates Elementary School currently serves 500 students. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Elementary School Principal is responsible for the educational, curriculum and instructional programs of the school. The Principal serves as the instructional leader for professional and papaprofessional staff assigned to the site including supervision of all instruction, and the supervision and evaluation of certificated and classified staff. The Principal manages all aspects of the school operation, student attendance, discipline, activities, fiscal functions, communication with the school community and community partners, supervision of school in-service programs; as well as the planning, coordination, and directing of processes, procedures, activities and programs related to the administration of Anna Yates Elementary School, and other related work as required.

Requirements / Qualifications MATERIALS •Valid California Administrative Credential •The ability to set the disciplinary tone for a school •A background as an excellent classroom teacher with a strong instructional background •Experience in a predominantly African American community •Experience with employee progressive discipline documentation •Demonstrated skill in participatory management, shared decision-making and program planning •Experience coaching staff in content and instructional strategies •Subject matter expertise in at least one content area •Knowledge of the shifts due to the Common Core •Experience in Site or District level leadership •Experience in facilitating discussions focused on equity and cultural pedagogy •Experience in facilitating teacher/parent collaboration •Experience/Ability to foster parent participation in school programs and activities •Ability to create a nurturing, safe environment
