Head of Mandarin Instruction All Souls World Language Catholic School is the only two-track (Mandarin/English and Spanish/English) Catholic dual language immersion school in the United States. We are seeking a dynamic educational leader to act as Head of Mandarin for our unique community. The Head of Mandarin must subscribe fully to the mission of All Souls and understand how academic study, faith, and co-curricular activities contribute to the life of our school. The ideal Head of Mandarin candidate must be an innovative and adaptable thinker with experience in Chinese culture, pedagogy, research, and marketing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Curriculum and Assessment: - Support teams in the development of a curriculum blueprint - Ensure the alignment of the curriculum to essential standards - Support teachers to develop standards-based assessments and differentiate to meet all students’ learning needs - Train teachers to collect, interpret, and use formative assessment data and systematically examine student work to support differentiation and intervention. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Provide direction in and maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational reform and its application in the Chinese context, and participate in on-going training to enhance professional skills and improve the school’s work toward its mission and vision. Serve as an instructional leader role model.

Leadership:

- Support teachers in identifying and achieving professional goals and support building administrators in professional growth conversations with teachers

- Develop administrators’ capacity to oversee Chinese education, including leading classroom visits and providing observation strategies

- Provide parent and community education regarding the future of learning in Chinese. Develop language teacher leaders’ capacity to communicate about their program to the community

- Collect and analyze data from our community and make proposals about how All Souls can respond to internal and external stakeholder groups effectively

- Meet with administration regularly and submit a monthly report on key measures of performance and effectiveness of the Mandarin instructional program

Requirements: (D = Desirable, E = Essential)

- Master’s degree in Education and/or Chinese Language/Culture or related field (D)

- Biliteracy in Mandarin/English (E)

- Minimum 5 years teaching experience, preferably in a DLI context (E)

- California Teaching Credential (D)

- Practicing Catholic (D)
