The Assistant Principal supports the Principal to increase academic achievement while maintaining a positive school climate for students, teachers, and staff. The Assistant Principal supports leadership efforts in improving the educational program to ensure that all students master grade level standards, demonstrate responsible citizenship, and become prepared for success at the high school level. Under the direction of the Principal: manage and reinforce student behaviors that contribute to a positive school climate; foster relationships with students and their families for student success; work with the principal and counselors to create master schedules aligned to student needs; lead specialized student programs; supervise and evaluate teachers and support staff; analyze student achievement data to address instructional and programmatic improvements; manage site facilities and operations; coordinate professional development and promote family and community involvement. Qualifications: Valid California administrative credential authorizing service as a secondary school Assistant Principal; Minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; At least 5 years of successful secondary classroom teaching; Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

  • Support the principal in all aspects of school leadership
  • Work closely with principal and the administrative team to create master schedules aligned to assess needs
  • Oversee data/collection and analysis to improve achievement
  • Organize school programs
  • Develop and monitor budgets
  • Evaluate Certificated and Classified staff
  • Coordinate professional development
  • Draft communications
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and attractive campus
  • Establish sustainable programs that advance the school

Experience, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • At least 5 years teaching experience at the secondary school level
  • Experience in using achievement data to address instructional needs
  • Experience working with master schedules
  • Experience in working with diverse cultural/language groups
  • Experience in “building” and monitoring budgets
  • Knowledge of certificated and classified evaluation

Candidate will have the ability to:

Education & Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of successful secondary classroom teaching, a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, Administrative experience preferred, Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Licenses & Certificates:

Valid California administrative credential authorizing service as a secondary school assistant principal.
