Job Summary

Under the direction of a Site Principal, the School Social Worker provides leadership in mental health intervention to students in order to promote emotional health, student success and retention. Provides psychological intake, assessment, crisis intervention, personal counseling, case management, consultation and referral services. The responsibilities of the School Social Worker include, but are not limited to: assessing the mental health needs of students and providing brief therapy; implementing comprehensive programs and services designed to facilitate the well-being of students; collaborating with campus faculty, staff, administrators and parents; providing resources and referrals with off campus organizations to meet the needs of students.

Requirements / Qualifications

Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited graduate school or program in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling with an emphasis in either marriage, family and child counseling, or marriage and family therapy. •Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) required: •Possession of a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent desirable; •Spanish speaking preferred but not required;

Will work primarily with students and parents; Experience providing case management, facilitating support groups, and counseling in a school setting; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience working with multidisciplinary teams; Experience collaborating with community based organizations and other city or county agencies; Knowledge and experience with computers, including but not limited to: word processing, databases, and internet access; Bilingual – Spanish preferred but not required.
