Requirements / Qualifications
Must possess appropriate pupil personnel services credential with authorization for School Psychology, have a valid driver's license, have TB verification, and pass a fingerprint background check. Desired qualifications include: five (5) years' experience in special education and testing, an ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in small communities, have an understanding of the philosophies, laws, and concepts of special education, communicates well, understands the relationship between IDEA, student discipline, 504 plans, ADHD, PDD, and Autism Spectrum disorders.
Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the school psychologist provides professional psychological services to students in the Eastern Sierra Unified School District. The Psychologist administers a variety of psychological tests and assessments and recommends appropriate placements and actions for students; consults with administrators, teachers, specialists, parents and agency and district personnel in forming action plans and recommendations; counsels students in individual and group settings; coordinates behavior management programs and plans, chairs meetings, maintains records, implements comprehensive IEP’s and serves as case manager for special education students.
