CLASS TITLE: FOOD SERVICE UTILITY WORKER
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Director-Food Service, perform a variety of warehouse functions including the receipt, inspection, storage and distribution of food items and supplies; drive a vehicle to various District locations to pick up and deliver food items and supplies; perform related cleaning duties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform a variety of warehouse functions including the receipt, inspection, storage and distribution of food items and supplies; fill and process daily food service orders and requisitions; assure proper and timely distribution of food items and supplies.
Drive a vehicle to various District locations to pick up and deliver food items and supplies; distribute food items and supplies to food service personnel; load and unload shipments of food items and supplies; inspect shipments to assure compliance with school site orders and specifications.
Place food items in racks, coolers or freezers as required; monitor and assure proper temperature of food items; rotate perishable and nonperishable inventory as needed; assure food shipments are not spoiled or damaged; assure distribution activities comply with safety and sanitation requirements.
Receive warehouse orders as directed; unload and inspect shipments for damage and conformity to purchase order specifications and packing slips; shelve and store items received in the appropriate section of the warehouse.
Maintain warehouse, freezer, storage areas and food service facilities in a safe, clean and orderly condition; sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax, polish and wash floors; move, arrange and clean beneath food items and supplies; clean vents; pick up paper and other debris; empty waste receptacles.
Maintain appropriate levels of regular store stock items as assigned; stock food service items and supplies; follow up on delayed orders as appropriate; participate in regular and periodic inventories; order food service supplies as directed.
Prepare and maintain various records and reports related to inventory, temperatures, shipments, deliveries and assigned activities.
Operate a variety of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and delivery vehicles.
Perform minor maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment as needed; replace light bulbs as needed; refer major maintenance and repair needs to appropriate staff
Communicate with District personnel and various outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Inspect delivery vehicle to assure proper operating condition; replenish gas as needed; clean vehicle as needed.
Assist with food service activities including by serving of food items and washing dishes as needed.
Lock and unlock doors as appropriate; set alarms as required; maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years increasingly warehouse, delivery or related experience including work with perishable food items.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver’s license.
