Job Summary

Job Summary

Oversees the daily operation of the Food Service department. Supervises and participates in the preparation, cooking and service of food for students and adults. Plans menus, assuring that standardized recipes and approved price schedules and portion controls are followed. Orders appropriate quantities of food and supplies and assures proper storage and authorized use of same. Checks goods received against requisitions and invoices and notifies appropriate personnel in the event of error. Takes periodic inventories of food and supplies. Compiles, maintains, and submits accurate records and reports required by the food service department. Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that sanitary and safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas and in dining areas. Maintains food quality standards, including appearance and taste. Assures that meals meet the meal requirements specified by the United States Department of Agriculture and the state. Supervises student workers. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, administrative personnel, and others contacted in the course of work. Provide cross-coverage in other areas as needed during lunch, break, and employee absences (FULL JOB DESCRIPTION IS ATTACHED)

Certification as a Food Service Manager for the American School Food Service Association is also desirable. Maintaining a current ServSafe certificate is required. Valid California Driver’s License. Clear TB Test (upon hire). CPR & First Aid Certification (upon hire).
