Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Behavior Specialist provides support, training, consultation and assessment to staff in support of special education students with behavioral challenges in Butte County. In the course of his/her duties, the Behavior Specialist will work collaboratively with other service providers. He/she will provide high quality staff development, classroom interventions, instructional best practices, core teaching interventions and technical behavior assistance to Butte County Office of Education personnel. In addition, he/she will be responsible to intervene and model effective behavioral interventions with special education students, analyze behavior from a functional perspective, develop positive interventions on a daily basis, conduct student functional analysis assessments, develop and implement positive behavior plans for students with behavioral challenges. This Behavior Specialist may work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in support of BCOE activities. The Behavior Specialist may attend student IEP meetings. the Behavior Specialist will provide guidance in behavior management techniques that comply with various Federal, State, and SELPA requirements.
