2024 FMSD Summer School Teachers Grades K-8 The Franklin-McKinley School District will be providing an in-person summer school program for students in grades K-8 with a focus on Literacy, Math, SEL and Ethnic Studies. Summer school will run from Monday, June 24th - Tuesday, July 23rd with professional development on June 20th-21st and no school on Thursday, July 4th or Friday, July 5th. The sites for summer school include: CCA (CCA Summer Bridge w/CORAL) Hellyer (Middle School, Elevate w/CORAL) McKinley (TK-6 FMSD w/CORAL) Meadows (SDLI/VDLI w/CORAL) Windmill Springs (TK-6 FMSD & ESY w/CORAL) For FMSD instruction, teachers will provide Literacy and Math instruction through the lens of Ethnic Studies. District teams will provide curriculum materials and support to implement these programs and focus. Teachers will also provide social emotional learning in collaboration with guidance from staff social workers. Teachers will work 5 hours a day from 8am-1pm, Monday through Friday (teaching 8:30--12:30, plus 30 minutes planning at the beginning and end of the day). Teachers are expected to attend district professional development from 8:30-3:30 pm on Thursday, June 20th and site meetings/professional development on Friday, June 21st. Teachers will be paid a stipend of $5,800 via memo based on the $50/hour rate (no P-30s). Any days a substitute is used will have that substitute rate subtracted from the total stipend amount.
