Job Summary

Overall Purpose: Provides daily specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities grades K-12+. Provides oversight and supervision of students and instructional assistance/paraprofessionals to ensure students progress toward instructional objectives. Follows Federal and State mandated laws that apply to IDEA and best practices. Duties & Responsibilities: Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP. Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals. Collaborates with parents, related services, supervisor and school district personnel to develop and present individual education plans (IEP) for the duration of their service. Establishes rapport and maintain on-going communication with parents, related services, supervisor, and SLDC staff. Ensures a safe environment for all students and staff. Develops and implements classroom and individual student behavior management

Special Education teachers needed for Non-Public School for Junior High and High School aged students with mild to moderate and moderate to severe disabilities. Duties and responsibilities include developing and implementing IEP's., meeting with parents, working as part of a trans-disciplinary team (Speech Pathologists, Counselors, Adapted P.E. Specialists, Occupational Therapists, etc.) to increase communication skills, improve academic skills, increase independence, and ability to function in society.

Requirements / Qualifications

1. Official transcripts showing the conferral of a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. 2. California Basic Skills Requirement (CBEST). 3. Completed application or able to complete substitute permit submitted to the CTC. 4. A completed Live Scan and background check from DOJ.
