MATHEMATICS TEACHER/GRADES 6, 7, & 8

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California credential (or ability to obtain) with an authorization to teach Mathematics in grades 7-8 is required. English Language Learner authorization required. Must be NCLB compliant to teach Math. Previous middle school teaching experience preferred.  

REPORTS TO: School Principal.

SALARY: Depends on qualifications and experience, in addition to health and welfare package.   Year for year experience credited towards placement on the salary schedule.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
3. Teaches course in 6th, 7th and 8th grade mathematics designed to prepare students for higher math in high school.
4. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like, to communicate these objectives to students.
5. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
6. Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
7. Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve learning problems.
8. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others including the utilization of parents as career resource consultants.
9. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
