THE POSITION: The Coordinator II, CCR/AVID Unit, is pivotal in the Division of Curriculum and Instructional Services at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. This position entails reporting to the Project Director III and providing comprehensive leadership, support, technical assistance, and professional development to educators and administrators across Los Angeles County. The primary focus is seamlessly integrating College and Career readiness skills, preparation, and expectations for all students. The Coordinator II is tasked with the meticulous planning, organization, development, and implementation of services for Local Education Agencies (LEAs). The Coordinator II will actively monitor, evaluate, and adjust support in response to the client's evolving needs. Collaboration with staff across the Division of Curriculum and Instructional Services is vital to this role, specifically emphasizing projects and professional learning. The AVID College and Career Readiness System (ACCRS) is integral to the College and Career Readiness Unit. As such, the Coordinator II will closely partner with AVID Center Program Managers and staff to ensure that AVID clients in Los Angeles County receive support through professional learning opportunities, meetings, and resources. The position operates under the general direction and supervision of the CCR/AVID Project Director III.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Three or more years of comprehensive, directly related, and progressive educational administrative experiences, including at least two years of experience as a site-level administrator. Other administrative experience may include district and/or county-level administrative positions in K-12 education. Experience as a staff developer, coach, and/or facilitator for teachers, counselors, and/or site/district administrators. Three or more years of leadership and coordinating experience with AVID at a regional, district, or site level is highly desired. Extensive knowledge and experience working with AVID are required; knowledge of various programs within AVID is highly desirable. (ex. AVID Secondary, AVID Elementary, and AVID Excel). Experience training and facilitating in various professional development situations integrating technology is required. Teaching experience with diverse populations is desirable. Education: Equivalent to a Master’s degree in Educational Administration or a closely related field from an Institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
