Job Summary

Under administrative direction of the Student Support Services department, provides assessment, consultation and occupational therapy services to special education students. Develops goals and objectives for consideration in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and develops individual occupational therapy intervention plans. Maintains appropriate documentation and records. Incumbents in this classification will directly supervise the work and performance of classified staff involved in providing these services and will participate as a member of the educational team assessing student performance.

POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time Occupational Therapist position to provide assessments, consultation and occupational therapy services to special education students. Work hours are expected to be 8:00am-4:30pm. This career opportunity is an 8 hours/day, 11 months/year, exempt-management position with paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, and health benefits package. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education:
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy or a closely related field. A Master's degree in one of these fields is desirable. Must be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the American Therapy Association through California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT). Maintenance of this registration is a condition of continued employment.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of successful service in the field of occupational therapy, preferable working with elementary school-aged children with severe physical disabilities including pediatrics, sensory integration and motor evaluation and training. Experience in developing program plans for children with occupational therapy needs and in consultation teaming with inter-agency collaboration. Experience in conducting training workshops with families and/or schools. Ability to demonstrate utilization of required skills, knowledge and abilities in performing job duties and responsibilities.
Other:
License: Valid CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency within three months of hire. Must be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the State of California, as well as meeting the requirements to keep certificate current.

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES
This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of a training and experience evaluation and/or structured oral interview.

To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies.

Dates of Interviews
The date(s) of interviews will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s) or interview(s).
