Under general supervision, utilize various district data and information systems to assist the assigned department with data-driven decision making, data analysis, report generation, and other duties regarding student and district information and data. Maintain various data and information systems to ensure integrity of student/staff data while training others on the use of assigned systems. Specific duties may vary depending on the department where the Information System Specialist works.

POSITION DETAILS
The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals to apply for a full-time position reporting to and supporting the Educational Services department in maintaining student information systems and integrity of student data while training other District employees on the use of these student information systems. This career opportunity is a 12 month/year position with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation. This current anticipated opening is 40 hours/week with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The most ideal candidate would possess experience, familiarity, and understanding of the following:
- Proven experience in data integration and support (specifically with or ability to learn Illuminate, i-Ready, CAASPP, and/or Powerschool)
- Skill in data analysis activities, focusing on state test results and other pertinent educational data to inform decision-making and program development, develop reports and dashboards with various data sets.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet management and dynamic database creation, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to provide effective training.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the applicant is likely to possess the required knowledge, skill and ability to perform the job duties:
- Education: Completion of coursework or certifications highly desirable.
- Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience with student information systems or other enterprise-wide data information systems; providing user training and customer services while troubleshooting on student information systems or enterprise-wide data information systems.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
This will be a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. We will be establishing an eligibility list to qualify candidates for consideration in job openings that are and/or become available during the life of the list (12 months). Applications will be accepted from all qualified individuals.
The examination may consist of evaluation of training and experience, written, performance and/or oral examinations. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The resulting eligibility list will be used for up to twelve months to fill vacancies.
