Nursing Instructor (Full-time tenure track position to begin Fall 2024) First Consideration Date 03/15/2024 POSITION SUMMARY This tenure-track medical-surgical nursing instructor position is a 10-month (175 days) assignment, which includes a variety of courses, and will require the selected candidate to teach across three nursing programs: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program, and Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. The assignment and schedule, as determined by the District, may consist of day, evening, night, weekend, and 12-hour shifts. Classes are offered on a 16-week calendar (fall and spring semesters), as well as in a variety of non-traditional scheduling options: winter intersession, evenings, summer sessions, and optional class formats, such as online education courses. This position is contingent upon funding and final Board approval. Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, cultural background, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff; AND – Possession of a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited/approved nursing program; AND – At least three years (3) of full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in an acute care medical-surgical nursing setting within the previous five (5) years; AND – Possession of a valid, active RN license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN); AND – Certificate of completion in Principles of Teaching Adult Learners course. (Note: Course must be approved by Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician (BVNPT) and must be earned by July 15, 2024.) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – One (1) year of continuous or its equivalent direct patient care experience in a long-term care facility. – Teaching experience in an accredited/approved LVN program (at least one year of full-time or its equivalent). – Teaching experience in an accredited/approved RN program (at least one year of full-time or its equivalent). – Certificate of completion in Principles of Teaching Adult Learners course. (Course must be approved by Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician (BVNPT). – Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instruction. – Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities. – Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching pedagogies that support student retention and successful course/program completion. – Demonstrated ability to actively participate in program, department, and college committees and shared governance. – Previous faculty approvals by the BRN and/or the BVNPT.
