Salary Range: $5,956.00 - $7,322.00 Monthly

Works closely with students in a group or one-one setting to share information concerning course selection, transfer procedures, degree and certificate requirements, registration and testing procedures; to respond to student questions regarding majors, general education and graduation requirements; and to support outreach services to high school seniors.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
• Receives direction from an assigned supervisor.
• May oversee the work of student employees.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Share information with students concerning transfer procedures, degree and certificate requirements, registration and testing procedures; refer students to various campus services and offices for specialized assistance as appropriate such as but not limited to career development, transfer, student assessment, employment services, EOPS, DSPS, and foster youth
• Implement program activities that support student success in the assigned area and in support of the commitment to equity for new, at risk, and continuing students through workshops or group activities.
• Develop and maintain a variety of electronic databases to track records for follow-up purposes, reports, and presentations.
• Coordinate with other District departments to schedule and utilize staff and resources.
• Provide assistance to students who have seen a counselor and developed a student education plan in selection of courses and development of class schedules.
• Participate in ensuring that courses offered at the District are transferable to other institutions.
• Provide a variety of assistance to counselors as needed; refer students to counselors as appropriate.
• Assist students to research their college or career interests by using the career resource library and inventory of occupational, vocational, and training information;
• Serve as facilitator for the group advising, sessions, abbreviated education plan, and probation workshops; collaborate with counselors, staff and managers on processes designed to support new students as well as probation students for student success.
• Assume a lead role to support the assigned area with any student concerns that may come up.
• Train and oversee the work of student employees, as assigned.
• Participate in various special events including college and career nights at area schools and on campus events; represent and promote the District; respond to questions and inquiries.
• Monitor and support student success using a case management model, tools and technology and refer students to resources on and off campus, as needed.
• Maintain a variety of files and records including student transfer information and current departmental changes; inform students of changes as needed.
• Update and maintain the assigned area website, as required.
• Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of changes in college transfer and graduation requirements.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications

• Principles and procedures of student assessment and interviewing.
• College matriculation and eligibility policies and procedures.
• Current issues and trends relative to employment and assessment practices.
• Basic web page and social media operations.
• Local community agencies and community-based resources.
• College and vocational education entrance requirements.
• Advanced principles of admissions, records, and matriculation.
• A variety of college information, services, policies and procedures.
• Office procedures, methods and equipment including computers, word processing software, database software, and internet.
• Communication and interpersonal skills.
• Principles and practices of filing and record keeping.
• Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to:
• Understand and work with the diverse needs of the student populations we serve.
• Conduct student intake interviews, recognize student needs and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide information to students on the availability of programs and services.
• Determine eligibility and matriculation requirements to new and transfer students.
• Plan, organize and conduct workshops and presentations to students, parents, the community, and District personnel.
• Respond to requests and inquiries from students, faculty, staff and the general public.
• Articulate and communicate effectively in workshop settings and presentations to large groups.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Work independently or in a team environment.
• Apply analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Sit for prolonged periods of time; extensive use of a computer keyboard.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds, and disabilities of community college students and staff as demonstrated by skills and abilities in cultural responsiveness and cultural humility.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in psychology or a related field.
Experience:
• Two years of responsible related experience.
Licenses/Special Requirements:
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
