The CTE College and Career Coordination Specialist is responsible for implementing strategies to prepare NUSD elementary/K-8 students to gain career awareness and better understand their own skill sets and interests, and how they align with different careers. Among the responsibilities is to provide direct service to elementary and K-8 students using a set of curricular and enrichment strategies delivered through domains of awareness, readiness, access, and success to promote long-term preparation for secondary and postsecondary transition.

Department of the Chief Academic Officer Reports to: Executive Director or Designee The CTE College and Career Coordination Specialist is responsible for implementing strategies to prepare NUSD elementary/K-8 students to gain career awareness and better understand their own skill sets and interests, and how they align with different careers. Among the responsibilities is to provide direct service to elementary and K-8 students using a set of curricular and enrichment strategies delivered through domains of awareness, readiness, access, and success to promote long-term preparation for secondary and postsecondary transition. The CTE College and Career Coordination Specialist is responsible for facilitating grade-level career awareness and preparation strategies and activities in partnership with teachers and school staff throughout NUSD. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Promote a career awareness culture with secondary and postsecondary aspirations for elementary and K-8 students Develop partnerships with businesses to build grade-level career engagement as well as pathways to postsecondary options Support CTE high school pathway recruitment process Coordinate information and services with other College and Career Coordination Specialists in NUSD and with businesses Develop grade-level career awareness strategies and activities through the facilitation of work teams comprised of grade-level teachers, counselors, administrators, and school staff members Collaborate with business leaders in alignment with the strategies and activities created by career awareness work teams. Develop grade-level career engagement opportunities to allow students to experience career guest speakers and field trips to tour business facilities. Collaboratively organize interactive career showcases Organize and conduct college tours for elementary and K-8 grade levels in alignment with the developed career awareness strategies and activities
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent. Three to four years of youth development and programming experience preferred. Two + years of post-secondary (college and career) related work experience preferred. Possession of a valid California drivers' license and proof of insurance are required. To be considered for hire, candidates must meet the minimum requirements including a successful interview and successful reference checks. Please note that we require three references, one of them must be a supervisor (current or past). Upon hiring, TB and Fingerprint Clearance (at the applicant’s expense) will be required.
