LEAD PERSONNEL TECHNICIAN
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of a Director of Human Resources, perform a variety of responsible and technical personnel services, including the administration of one or more major functions within the office of employee/employer relations; provide lead supervision
and training to personnel technicians, assistants, and personnel clerks responsible for the representative duties of those classifications; direct the efforts of those personnel in the performance of the functions to which assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Act as a resource for school and District office personnel in interpreting and enforcing the personnel policies and practices of the District and the collective bargaining agreements. E
Assure that District policies and other rules and regulations are followed with respect to the employment function. E
Respond to questions from employees regarding any facet of their employment; respond to questions from applicants regarding classified and certificated position openings. E
Perform a wide variety of activities involved in the control of paperwork and official documents, files notices and other communications. E
Assure that District policies and practices are followed with respect to proper documentation of employees’ work and personal history; assure that all required information is available before approving hiring. E
Check all documentation on new hires or existing employees with respect to personal or physical limitations or special requirements. E
Direct the activities of one or more personnel clerks or personnel assistants in the performance of activities to which assigned. E
Provide information and reports as necessary regarding District rules and regulations concerning salaries, transfers, leaves of absence, job classifications, employee benefits or other personnel matters. E
Complete, verify and process a variety of forms related to employment compensation and other personnel matters to assure adequacy of information, completeness and consistency; may maintain employment lists and personnel matters to assure adequacy of information, completeness and consistency; may maintain employment lists and personnel records and verify data concerning classified or certificated personnel; calculate changes in employment; process salary increases. Calculate salary adjustments; calculate merit, annual, temporary positions, and promotional salary increases. E
Supervise the preparation of Board of Education dockets; provide materials for Board of Education approval. E
Review employment applications for compliance with classification requirements; conduct interviews as necessary; provide other information to applicants upon request; maintain eligibility list, establishing the starting date for new hires. E
Prepare a wide variety of personnel reports; maintain personnel records as assigned; review personnel reports for accuracy; initiate change as necessary. E
Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to an A.A. degree in personnel or a related business management field and three years of responsible personnel work involving significant public contact; additional experience may substitute for the education requirement on a two-year-experience-for-one-year-education basis.
