This position reports directly to the Dean of Counseling.
Representative Duties:
1. Providing personal and academic counseling services to diverse student populations in support of student access, equity and success.
2. Serve as liaison with the instructional/academic units, student support programs, area schools, community based organizations and projects as assigned.
3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, division colleagues, and students.
4. Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling
OR the equivalent.
(NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities.
2. Demonstrate experience with teaching and development of community college curriculum and teach workshops/classes.
3. Demonstrate experience with academic and personal counseling in a community college, as well as evidence of participation in shared governance/committee work.
4. Ability to train, and/or experience providing provide counseling, assessments and interpretation, and career exploration. etc.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Experience utilizing modem counseling-related technologies used in higher education, such as degree audit.
2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team effort toward division/college goals, student access, equity and success
3. Demonstrated knowledge of career-technical education programs, academic pathways, transfer admissions. and comprehensive student education planning
4. Organize projects, represent the college in district, local and state committees dealing with community college counseling issues;
