Job Summary
The Learning Centers at Fairplex (TLC), has offered years of service in providing educational resources to the community. As part of TLC programming, the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) provides hands-on workforce development programs that prepare high school students for long-term careers. CTEC Substitute Instructors will provide class coverage (part-time, as needed) for our classes that are designed to offer high school students the opportunity to develop entry-level skills required for employment in the automotive industry, welding, and urban agriculture. Substitute Instructors will help provide a safe and civil learning environment and inform students about course requirements, attendance policies and will monitor, evaluate, and document student attendance and behavior. CTEC classes take place Monday-Friday evenings (4:30pm – 7:30pm).

- Maintain computer-based attendance
- Provide group and individualized instruction according to the lesson plans and instructions of the permanent CTEC instructor
- Be familiar state-approved course outlines that are aligned with career technical education and academic content standards
- Provides instruction that is appropriately paced and directed to specific career skills while accounting for individual differences in ability, motivation and learning modalities
- Establishes and maintains a suitable learning environment that promotes student growth, skill mastery, and assures student safety
- Modify the traditional modes of delivering instructional services to reasonably accommodate an individual’s disabilities
- Knowledge of current market trends and industry development/practices/standards for career technical pathways
- Provide effective teaching and classroom management strategies, while maintaining a safe classroom environment

Requirements / Qualifications
Credential Requirements: • Possess a valid CA CTE 30-day substitute teaching permit, or a valid CA Designated Subjects, or a Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential authorizing services as a Substitute Instructor in Secondary CTE Programs. • A High school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree is highly desirable. Recent experience in secondary school education (Grades 9-12) is preferred. • Three (3) – five (5) years work experience in a related fields with current knowledge of industry standards Required Documents: • Detailed Resume
