We have an exciting opportunity for four (4) English Instructor positions located at our campuses in San Jacinto and Menifee, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks English Instructors to teach and develop courses in English. These positions are full-time tenure-track academic positions. The ideal candidates need to be student-oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success. They should be skilled in generating student engagement in learning and will create welcoming learning environments that are equity-based and culturally affirming. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus, and online classes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition (attach transcripts); OR 2. A Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND A Master's in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism (attach transcripts); OR 3. The equivalent; AND 4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph***

3. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to teach African American Literature and interest in teaching for and facilitating the Umoja program
4. Demonstrated understanding of and familiarity with AB 1705, AB 705, and Guided Pathways initiatives
5. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, and students to support students' educational goals and completion
6. Demonstrated commitment to remain current in diverse teaching methods and learning styles as applied to teaching composition and literature in online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning modalities
