Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the department manager, assist certificated and classified staff in educational activities for students requiring speech therapy; provide drill, practice and production of correct speech sounds and grammar; monitor corrected speech and language of students; responsibly perform a variety of instructional services and clerical support activities within a well-defined framework of policies, procedures and objectives; report progress of students to the Speech-Language Specialist; use sound judgment and initiative in working with students; and do other related work as required.

Requirements / Qualifications

Speech-Language Pathology Aide I = no degree; II = AA or AS degree; III = BA or BS degree. Equivalent to graduation from high school and/or any combination of experience and training to provide the required knowledge and skill. An AA degree, or 2 years equivalence of acceptable college coursework, or successful passage of an acceptable rigorous assessment is highly preferred. Must pass an Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test with a score of 75% or higher in the areas of Math, Reading and Writing, or provide High School Proficiency verification; Possess a valid California driver license and maintain insurability. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County. Transport students from time to time as required, in a county office vehicle. Participate in random alcohol and controlled substances testing as delineated in Superintendent Policy 4112.42, 4212.42, 4312.42 and Administrative Regulation 4112.42, 4212.42 and 4312.42.
