ELECTRICIAN
DEFINITION
To perform, under general supervision the work of a skilled journeyman electrician in the construction, installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, and to do related work as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Be able to perform the installation of complete wiring systems, clock and fire alarm, heating and air conditioning, lighting and power, and high voltage systems; should have ability to diagnose and repair low voltage, high voltage systems, and electronic systems without the assistance of manufacturers or outside contractors should keep up with all current new equipment through either schooling or correspondence; would be required to help plan electrical alterations and installations; inspect electrical systems; read blueprints and drawings; compile material lists; may supervise the work of others related to his work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
• The tools, materials, and standard practices of the electrical trade;
• Design, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical
systems and facilities; State, County and City electrical codes
and ordinances.
Ability to:
• Skillfully use electrical tools and equipment;
• Work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints.
• Follow verbal and written directions.
• Train coworkers in similar work.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education/Training/Experience:

apprenticeship, and five years experience in electrical work as a

• Successful completion of a physical examination by a licensed
physician based on the physical requirements of this position.
