Custodians are under the general supervision of the Principal for daily work when schools are in session. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Open building and put up flag • Check for vandalism and safety problems, including heating and air conditioning systems. Correct problems, if possible • Notify principal of any hazardous conditions • Sweep or vacuum carpet and dust administrator's and secretary's offices • Sweep or vacuum and dust nurse's room • Clean sink, drain board, toilet, basin, and mirror • Fill dispensers • Empty wastebasket • Sweep and dust adult's restrooms; clean sinks, toilet, basin, and mirror • Sweep all entries to buildings, walks to street, stairways and sidewalks • Prepare area for lunch--set-up tables, chairs, wastebaskets • Clean up lunch area; sweep, clean under tables, wipe up spillage, pick up papers, empty wastebaskets; wash wastebaskets daily • Wash windows and walls • Polish furniture and woodwork • Take care of equipment and custodial/maintenance materials • Move and arrange furniture upon request • Check and tidy up boys' and girls' restrooms after recess. Clean toilets, wash sinks and mirrors, fill dispensers, clean walls and partitions, if necessary, and empty wastebaskets. Mop floor daily. • Clean blinds • Scrape and refinish floors • Take care of minor tasks at school site such as weeding and gardening areas adjacent to building and sidewalk areas • Clean parking area as needed • Complete other tasks as assigned • Sweep or vacuum multi-use room • Clean and maintain heating apparatus and light fixtures • Sweep and dust teachers' room • Perform miscellaneous custodial work or minor maintenance repair • Clean floors, chalk rails, sinks, and drain boards of classrooms. • Sweep or vacuum corridors, steps, and landings throughout facility • Pick up and remove litter from grounds • Clean surfaced play areas • Water outdoor areas on a schedule or as needed • Clean catch basins and covers • Clean parking
