Basic principles and procedures of first aid and health care in accordance with State Laws and Red Cross practices; basic medical terminology; knowledge of required immunizations for school entrance; general office practices such as typing, filling, indexing, and alphabetizing; correct English usage, punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Analyze situations and initiate and effective course of action; recognize childhood diseases such as measles, mumps, chicken pox, pediculosis, ringworm, etc.; take temperatures, respirations and blood pressure; learn and apply laws, regulations and procedures prescribed by State Laws and District policies; use correct telephone and personal contact techniques; counsel with juveniles, relate to their problems and identify resources and support areas necessary to resolve them; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and satisfactory possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above; on One (1) year of experience at or equivalent to School Health Aide I with the Duarte Unified School District. Keyboarding skills at a level to proficiently perform data entry and report preparation. Demonstrated ability to take temperature, respirations, and blood pressure.

          Possession of a valid California Driver's license; have an acceptable driving record and qualify for insurability by the district’s insurance carrier; and possession of a current Standard Red Cross Certificate and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate. May be required to use personal automobile in the course of work. The ability to speak, read and write Spanish or another language other than English may be required for some assignments,
