OVERVIEW: San Diego Unified School District, the second-largest district in California and one of the top largest urban school districts in the United States, is seeking a Director, Risk Management. BASIC FUNCTION: The Director, Risk Management is responsible to manage the technical and operational functions within Risk Management’s workers compensation team, including industry best practices; ensure consistent delivery of quality services; and exercise control over budget preparation and profit and loss management. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department's Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in risk management, business administration, public administration or related field and eight (8) years of claims management experience including two (2) years supervisory experience Professional certifications as applicable to line of business preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Self-Insurance Administrator’s license is required. Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation.
