Job Summary

LACOE is seeking a dynamic communications professional to join our team as a Public Information Officer, where your marketing and communications skills will make a meaningful impact on the nearly 2 million students and 80 school districts throughout Los Angeles County. This position works with a large team to plan, develop and implement integrated strategic communications activities including media relations, social media, digital content, graphics and videos.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, graphic design, cinematic arts/film/television productions or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience: Five years of experience in coordinating, developing and implementing communications, media, and public relations activities for a communications, public relations, public affairs, or marketing department or agency. Equivalency Provision: A master’s degree with major coursework in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, graphic design, cinematic arts/film/television productions or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification may substitute for two of the five years of experience. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Additional Requirements: A valid California driver's license, the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. A master’s degree in a closely related field and public sector experience are desired.
