Job Summary

Job Summary

The job of Director, Maintenance Services is done for the purpose of establishing, maintaining, managing the District's physical plant operations, maintenance services, custodial services and landscaping service. Supervises assigned staff to ensure efficient operations; performs coordination, monitoring, field inspections and walk-throughs to ensure timely and efficient completion of work; provides management level reporting of timeframes for completion of work orders; ensures laws and codes are followed; ensures safe practices are followed and training regime provided and performs other essential job-related duties and responsibilities as required. The primary focus of this position is to ensure smooth, uninterrupted District operations through timely repair, servicing, and preventive maintenance of the District's physical plant, grounds and equipment in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED: A bachelor's degree in business administration, architecture, construction management, public administration, facilities maintenance, engineering, or related field, OR ten years of job related experience in a similar-sized organization in one or more of the building or maintenance trades, five years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity with multiple journey-level trades; must show a progressive level of leadership experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Four years of experience in a similar-sized organization in one or more of the building or maintenance trades, four years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity with multiple journey-level trades; must show a progressive level of leadership experience. LICENSE REQUIRED: Possession of a valid California Driver's License with evidence of insurability.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TESTING REQUIRED: 1. After offer of employment, obtain: a. Criminal Justice and FBI Fingerprint Clearance at candidate's expense. b. Negative pre-employment drug screen test through District's provider at District's expense. c. Pre-employment physical exam through District's provider at District's expense. d. Negative TB test result at candidate's expense plus periodic post-employment retest (currently every four years) as required through District's provider at District's expense. e. Must complete any mandatory training assigned by the District that is generally applicable to all classified employees or employees in this classification in particular. 2. OSHA Workplace Safety Training is desired.
